CLASSES
& WORKSHOPS
Beginner’s Knitting:
This course is for true beginners or those still working on basic skills.
You will learn to cast on and cast off, knit and purl, combine stitches
into patterns, and correct mistakes.
At the end of the class, you will
know the basics and start a hat project. (5 weeks, $60)
How to knit a tuques: Learn how to knit a tuques. Choose a hat with earflaps or
without. ($25, 2 session, 4 hours, with Nicole)
How to knit socks from the top down: Learn how to make socks from the cuff
down to the toe on double-pointed needles. This class teaches you everything
you need to know to knit socks - from working in the round to turning the heel
to shaping the toe. ($55,
4 sessions, 8 hours, with Nicole)
Building Blocks,
a knitting series designed to grow your skills one square at a time. Following
Michelle Hunter’s Building Blocks book, you will learn to navigate through new
skills. Each workshop focuses on a new skill. At the end of the workshops you
will have 12 knitted squares. You will learn how to assemble them in the last
workshop into a sampler afghan.
Join us for all
workshops or choose which skill you want to perfect and join us for that one
individually.
Cost:$130 for full
13 week session (26 hrs instruction)
$15 per individual session if taking

Beginner’s Crochet: The Beginning Crochet class teaches familiarity with types
of yarn, reading yarn labels, patterns, needles and sizes. Basic crochet
skills are taught. You will learn chain stitch, slip stitch, single,
half-double, and double crochet stitches, and how to turn, change yarns, fix
mistakes, and finish their work. ($25, 2 session, 4 hours, with
Nicole)
Workshops
How
to read patterns: Learn
how to read patterns in both English and French. We will take you through all
the steps of reading patterns, charts and abbreviations. (2 hours - $10 with Lucinda)
Knitting
in the Round: Learn
the various ways to knit in the round and familiarize yourself with which ones
are more appropriate for various projects. Thought will be given to double
pointed needles, circular and magic loop.
(2 hours - $10 with Lucinda)
How
to read a crochet pattern:
Come explore with Nicole how to read a crochet pattern and expand the
possibilities with crochet. (2 hours - $10 with Nicole)
How
& Why to make a Swatch?: Come
learn the importance of swatching with Falling Stitches designer, Ariane
Caron-Lacoste. (2 hours - $10 with Ariane)
