Artyarns Knit along

Rhapsody Glitter Light color 314

Over the month of December, it became quite apparent that I am in love with ARTYARNS.

Then, the other day, I noticed that Iris Schreier designer and founder of Artyarns is hosting a ravelry knitalong. Well, the only delay I had in deciding which colour and yarn to choose was the fact that I could not go to the store due to the massive snow storm we had on the 27th.

Well, yesterday, I ooed and ahhed at all the pretty colours. Finally, I asked Gilles to choose for me. He choose a beautiful pale blue with a hint of glitter. All the glamour a girl could use without all the fuss

Wanna join in?
Part 1
Here are the details:

This scarf uses Ensemble Light DOUBLED shown in color H30 Gold, to create a worsted weight version. You can also use Silk Rhapsody, which is already a worsted weight (if you use Silk Rhapsody Light, you will need to double it).
I designed this quick scarf for everyday use, and it is wonderful, cozy, and warm in cold weather to wrap around the neck several times. The edging is really old--from 1900, but it is simple, classic, and amazing. It is knitted from side to side, then stitches are picked up on one edge, and short rows help to form the crescent shape.

Here are the rules and regulations:
THIS IS AN ARTYARNS KNITALONG--you must use Artyarns yarn for your project to participate.
In order to automatically join this knitalong, please do as follows:
Click on the link to the ravelry page: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/200-yard-scarf-knitalong
Hit “Cast On” to create your project page
Add a photo of the Artyarns yarn you will be using
You will receive Part 1 by January 1, 2013 with additional instructions.
The knitalong starts on January 1 and continues through February 28. February 28 is the deadline for posting your Artyarns yarn photo. However, there is no deadline for completion. As long as you have posted your yarn photo, you will be part of the knitalong, and can complete it at your leisure.

NOTE: If you purchase your yarn at Mont Tricot, you will be entered to win a special prize!

Curling Style Tuque and Cowl

Curling in Style Hat

It was late October. The day was grey and I needed a pick me up. Curling season was just starting and I needed a tuque for all those long hours I would clock on the ice. I quickly got started and progressed quite nicely and then life happened and it just sat at the shop with clients fondling it from time to time. On Wednesday at knit night I felt I should give it some love. The next thing you know, it was finished and I am in love. With all my knitting, it is quite rare to have such an attachment to a finished item, but this one is MINE all MINE!!!

It has been quite an exciting ride since I posted the photo with so much positive feedback. Since then, I have posted the pattern in English and French. I have even started a matching cowl based on a customer's request.

Knitting Notes:
The hat as pictured weighs 50g which means that I had 30g left over for the next project. I did not feel that was enough for a cowl so I was faced with a dilemna: do I use a new skein and risk having more leftover at the end of the cowl or do I mix my leftover with another yarn that would do it justice.
In the end, I decided to mix it with another one of my favorite yarns Silky Baby Llama from Illimani yarns. After a few rows, I am loving the mix. I want a cowl that sits close to the neck for our cold Quebec winters. I really think that the mix will fit the bill. What do you think?
